Condorcet ( 1743-1794) published 22 years working on his first calculus. Then he had a major role during the revolution of 1789. Equally opposed to the Church as Voltaire, a champion of many liberal causes, he hoped for a rational reconstruction of society. Five years later, at 51, a warrant of arrest, he would die quickly in prison conditions remained enigmatic.
